What should Christians be doing while they await Jesus Christ’s return?
Believers should take advantage of the opportunities that God has afforded them and use them for His glory. That’s the message conveyed in a blog posted by Harvest Christian Fellowship Senior Pastor Greg Laurie on Wednesday.
Laurie explains that in ancient times when a wealthy man left his home to go on a journey, he would often leave his highly trusted servants with the authority to run his household and to oversee his finances.
Just like those servants maintained and oversaw the wealthy man’s home, property and business, so should Christians with what God has entrusted them in their own lives until He returns.
Laurie then cites Matthew 25:15, which reads: Jesus said the man “gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last — dividing it in proportion to their abilities.”
The Harvest Christian Fellowship senior pastor likens Jesus to that wealthy sojourner. “Jesus is like that wealthy man who went on a journey, and we are the servants in which He has made an investment.”
