Global leaders will vote tomorrow on ousting Iran from the United Nations’ top women’s rights body. Although it consistently has one of the lowest gender equality scores globally, Iran started its four-year term on the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in March.

Meanwhile, protests continue in the streets of Iran despite the regime’s increasing crackdown. On Monday, the government publicly executed the second protestor in five days. According to BBC News, 23-year-old Majidreza Rahnavard was put to death 23 days after his arrest.

“The riots we’re seeing inside of Iran have so much tenacity because it’s about a human rights issue,” Reza* with Global Catalytic Ministries says.

“Everyone in the country has a sister, a mother, a daughter affected by this.”
